Motion Computing has launched the first tablet device that is durable enough and suited to be used in all retail environments.

Following claims that the iPad could become an integral tool for the retail industry, Motion said its new robust CL900 is much better suited for a retail environment.

The new tablet has what is being described as a unique ‘Corning Gorilla’ glass screen which is durable and scratch resistant, and a casing that is light and protects against dust and other elements, ideally suited to all aspects of retail, according to Motion.

Box Technologies has been awarded the only Certified Motion Partner (CMP) for the product, meaning it will be the only provider of in and out of warranty repairs for the tablet.

Russell Wilcox, Chairman, Box Technologies, said “The CL900, with its rugged build quality, has real competitive advantages and is an exciting addition to the robust portfolio of Motion products.

“We are excited about the future and the new business markets made accessible by the CL900 and will be working especially hard to fulfil the technical delivery aspects of bringing the new product the UK & Ireland.”

The model is currently being used in a variety of sectors, from hospitals to contruction sites in the US, and Motion is hoping this partnership will increase its use in business in the UK and Ireland.
